General El Paso questions and answers

How reasonable are El Paso hotels?

Compared to the rest of the state, lodging in El Paso is very affordable.  You can probably get
away spending between $50 and $100 for a good mid-range hotel.  Keep in mind, hotel tax at
the present time is 15.5%.  If you'd like to stay at a more fancy spot, you can try the historic, yet
modern Hilton Camino Real.

Any breakfast recommendations in El Paso?

If you want to try a uniquely El Paso place, you can start your day at the H&H Car Wash,
which is a hole-in-the-wall diner beloved by locals.  You can eat a Mexican breakfast while
actually getting your car washed.  No kidding.

Is there anything fun to do in El Paso?

I'm not sure what you mean by fun, but if you're looking for entertainment, the closest thing El
Paso has to an entertainment district is a single block of restaurants and bars on Cincinnati Street
near the University of Texas El Paso.  For entertainment listings, you can pick up the free
monthly paper called the El Paso Scene or the Friday Tiempo supplement to the El Paso Times.

How does El Paso compare to the rest of Texas?

El Paso has little in common with the rest of Texas.  Isolated at the state's far-western tip, further
west than most of New Mexico, El Paso is without the bounties of big oil and high tech.
However, El Pasoans are a proud and unpretentious people.
