Where’s
the best part of town to stay in?
When I travel, I like to
experience the thing that makes a place unique. In New Orleans,
that means the French Quarter. Jackson Square is the hub of the Quarter.
Stay to the east of Canal St and south of Dauphine and you’ll
find many hotels to chose from. Paul McCartney stayed at Le
Richelieu on Charters St during his Wings days. The Maison de
Ville (Toulouse St), Hotel Villa Convento (Ursulines St), The
Clairborne Mansion (Dauphine St), and the Lafitte Guest House (Bourbon St) are a few romantic suggestions. If you’re looking for something
more functional than stylish, we have several modern chain hotels
on the Quarter’s fringe: The Hotel Intercontinental (Charles St),
Le Meridian (Canal St), Harrah’s (Canal St), The Wyndam
(Iberville St). If you’re on a budget, you can use Loyola’s dorms in the summer (504-865-3737), and Tulane has some suites available to
the public (504-865-5724). Be careful about booking a cheap room
–do not make a reservation unless you have a personal
recommendation, or you could end up in skid row.
