downtown
area. There is also an Extended Stay and a Hampton Inn and Suites in the
Downtown Southbank area. The Ritz Carlton is located just north
of the city on Amelia
Island.

Fine dining restaurants in the
downtown area include Matthews, Daniels, Bistro AIX, bb’

Jacksonville’s focus on the ocean, the

area activities. Sailing, jet ski rentals, skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and

cruising are just a few. Our area beaches are terrific for
shelling or for finding sharks
teeth and sea glass. St. Augustine
Beach and Amelia Island are fun resort areas that
offer lots to
do. We have a terrific zoo and a growing cultural scene with a brand new
museum of modern art. Our city hosts the PGA Tour’s Tournament
Players
Championship each year in Ponte Vedra. We also have a
fantastic NFL Jaguars football
team, a blossoming tennis circuit
with the Bausch and Lomb tournament in Amelia
Island, and host
other numerous sporting events throughout the year. Super Bowl 2005
will be held in February. Jacksonville was awarded the 2005 ACC
Tournament game,
and we also host the annual Gator Bowl, not to
mention the largest cocktail party-The
Florida/Georgia football
rivalry game.

beaches area is a unique place to live with 4 very different cities within
a several
mile stretch on the coast: Atlantic Beach, Neptune
Beach, Jacksonville Beach, and
Ponte Vedra Beach. There are neat
pockets of residential areas throughout Jacksonville,
as well:
Deerwood/Baymeadows area, San Marco, Downtown Lofts, Avondale, in
addition to several country club or gated communities.
