I am flying into Ft Lauderdale and heading to Boca Raton. Is FLL the closest airport? If so, what is the

cheapest way to get to Boca from FLL?

Answer

Boca is halfway between the Ft lauderdale airport and the West Palm Beach airport. (around 25 miles away from each). I'm more familiar with the Ft. Lauderdale airport.

Taxi/Car Service would probably cost around $35 to Boca. There are also shared ride services at the airport for less money that might go to Boca. You need to inquire at the airport about this.

The cheapest way (but it is also the most inconvenient and I don't suggest this if you have more than a carryon) is to take a Broward County Bus

from the airport to the Tri-Rail train station and take that north to Boca. They will help you with this at the airport. (NOTE: Will probably take you at least a couple of hours this way). Hope this helps......Enjoy your trip!

I am guessing your cruise leaves from Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale. As far as I know, you'll probably have to park at the Port in one of their garages. I pasted below some useful Parking info from the Port Everglades website. Good Luck.

Convenient parking for cruise passengers and Navy ship visitors is available in the Northport or Midport Parking Garage. Garages are well-illuminated, security-patrolled, designed to accommodate RVs and buses, and provide handicapped parking with unimpeded access to crosswalks and elevators. All parking facilities charge $2 for 0-1 hour, $5 for 1-5 hours, and then $1 per hour thereafter up to a maximum daily fee of $12, and $15 for oversized vehicles up to 40 ft.

The Distance from the Ft. Lauderdale airport to Port Everglades (where most of the Cruise Ships leave from) is around 4 miles

There are many hotels in the area close to the port, and I'm pretty sure that many of the brand name hotels, will provide complimentary parking and transportation to and from the port while you are a guest there. One hotel in particular is the "Spring Hill Suites by Marriott" located in Dania around 5 miles from the port . I am sending you their link.

Taxi/car service seems like your best option because public transportation is not readily available here. There is also a shared/shuttle service you can take directly from the Ft. Lauderdale Airport called the "Airport Express" Rate is approx $25.00 per person from the Ft. Lauderdale Airport to the Port of Miami. You can inquire about this service at the airport when you arrive to Ft. Lauderdale.

She needs to hook up with a friend at the airport, and I need to know how far the bus terminal is from the airport and the best transportation for her to get there. The Greyhound Bus Terminal is located in downtown Ft Lauderdale approximately 5 miles from the airport. A Taxi/Car Service would probably be the best option to get to the airport (I'm not certain whether there is bus service or not to the airport). As far as hotels are concerned, there aren't any that I am aware of by the bus station, there are many hotel chains, however, by the airport (some of them providing complimentary shuttle service to the airport, one such hotel that I know of is the Spring Hill Suites by Marriott - phone # 954-920-9696) As far as inexpensive chain motels, there is a Motel6 in Dania a couple of miles from the airport (phone # 954-921-5505)

If you are going to be working and living in Sunrise, I would definitely try to avoid Miami airport - the airport is very hectic and traffic jams can be bad traveling from there to Sunrise especially during Rush hours.

Ft. Laud airport is located near the intersection of Interstate 95 and 595 and is only around a 20 minute drive to Sunrise. They have taxicabs and shared ride services (one of these companies is called Airport Express). Unfortunately, public transportation throughout Ft Lauderdale is not very good (not like Chicago).

The Cost of Living in Ft Lauderdale, while not cheap, is probably a little less than major cities and there is no State Income Tax in Florida.

Sunrise is considered West Ft Lauderdale (kind of like a suburb). Most of Sunrise is fairly safe..

The best way of getting to the Miami Port from the Ft Laud airport would probably either by Taxi or via one of the Shared ride shuttle services. $240 does seem very high. You might want to call Airport Express and see how much their Shared Ride Service is. Taxi and Shuttle info pasted below. Hope this helps.
