The main
airport in Cleveland is Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. A wide variety of transportation options are available to travelers
from the airport. Cabs are available for transportation on the
baggage claim level of the airport. The major Rental Car
companies at Cleveland airport include Avis, Budget, Dollar,
Enterprise, Hertz, Thrifty, and National / Alamo.
There is also a
transit system (website http://www.gcrta.org/) that goes
straight from the airport to Tower City (website http://www.towercitycenter.com/) at Public Square in the middle
of downtown. You don't even have to walk outside if
you stay at the Renaissance Hotel. The Marriott is a
short walk away. The Hyatt is a little longer walk,
or you can take a loop bus. The rapid transit system (we call it "The Rapid") is pretty good for people who live in the near
suburbs to use to get in to work downtown in the morning and home
in the evening, but it's not all that great for a visitor from
out of town. Visitors can use the Rapid to get from
the airport to downtown and then from downtown to the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame. Walking around downtown is fine -- the downtown area is not really all that big. But, if you
really want to explore Cleveland, you need a car.
