I have been
a Chicago resident my entire life, so to tell you about what is fun and
great is easy.
For a family day or (recommended 2 days) you have to
go 45 minutes north to Gurnee for the Great America day. If you
cannot have a good time there you need to have AN OPERATION TO
WAKE YOURSELF UP! HAHA!!!! For food in downtown Chicago you have a
multitude of places to play and eat. Get to Ontario street and go
the distance from the lake to the highway. you have Excaliber, a
4 story bar with live music dancing, all types shapes and sizes of people that are fun! You have Mortons Steakhouse and Ruth Chriss
steakhouse and Lawrys there is so much all you need is a great
appetite and its easy to fill! If you like flea markets we have
indoor ones in Stone Park at North ave and Mannheim or at Lake and
Mannheim or in Glendale Heights at North ave and Glen Ellen rd
or
You can go to the best indoor at highway 41/294 and 7 MILE rd,
thats about 25 minutes over the Wisconsin border, but really
worth the trip! In the summer they also have outdoors, about 500
venders just outside ! locally you can go west to Montana Charlies at hwy
55 and Joliet rds about 1 block south on Joliet rd, this market
is all out doors but real interesting stuff at a great deal. 1
time a month at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St Charles or a lot closer
3rd sun of the month go to the Rosemont Horizon/Tweeter Center.
This is the original fleamarketeers, the Loews brothers, their
father started the longest lasting flea market setup in the early 60's in
Wheeling at the drive in. Stay right downtown and go to Navy
Pier, fun for the entire family. I always just recommend bring
money and the family and the adventure will seek you out! Chicago
is a lot more fun than most places and believe me I lived on my motorcycle
for 3 years as I traveled around the United States meeting people
in every crevice of the country!
