What makes Charlotte North Carolina unique?

Charlotte is the largest metropolitan area in the Carolinas, with more than 1 million
residents, Charlotte is a booming financial center as well as a major distribution
and service point for the Southeast.  A lot of the city's prosperity can be
attributed to the Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, a transportation hub that
opened Charlotte to the world.  Another unique thing about Charlotte is that its
downtown area is referred to as "uptown".


Where can I find out what's going on in Charlotte?

If you want to find out whats happening in Charlotte, there's a free  weekly
publication called Creative Loafing that you can pick up at practically any
restaurant or newsstand.  It has some pretty good restaurant reviews and some
interesting live music reviews.


Where can I find a nice quiet Charlotte hotel that's in between the airport
and Uptown?

The Doubletree SouthPark is in a great location if you want to be close to the
airport (about 8 miles) and close to Uptown (about 4 miles). It's also surrounded
by a bunch of great restaurants and the best shopping in the city.  Although the
place is  in the middle of a busy shopping area, it's very quietly situated. The have
a whirlpool, sauna and fitness facility as well as all the amenties needed for
business.


Where's good museum to go to in Charlotte?

The Mint Museum of Art's pottery and porcelain collection is said to be one of
the best in the country.  Collections include art dating from the Renaissance.
