Question
Where can I find reasonably priced hotels in Baton Rouge?

Answer:
Your best bet for accommodations in Baton Rouge are the many moderately priced
chain hotels just off Interstate 10 around the College Rd and Acadian Thruway
exits.  Cheaper chains cluster along the north side of I-12 within a mile of I-10.  A
few include the Ramada Inn (a busines shotel near downtown which has many
standard but nice rooms with amenities), Comfort Suites (between I-10 and Perkins
Rd.), and Embassy Suites which is one of the nicest in the city.  This hotel has big
standard rooms and two-room suites with gallery kitchens.  The indoor pool has a
whirlpool and sauna and a fully complimentary breakfast is served each morning.

Question
What kind of attractions are there to see in Baton Rouge and where are they
located?

Answer
Most attractions are downtown.  Louisiana State University (LSU) is in the
southwest quadrant of the city.  Highland Rd is the main thoroughfare, while Perkins
Rd has many restaurants, bookstores and shops.  The new Louisiana State Capitol
Building on State Capitol Dr is an art deco skyscraper  well worth visiting as the
27th floor observation deck has a great view of the city.  The Old State Capitol at
100 N Blvd is a neo-Gothic structure overlooking the river, with exhibits and
multimedia presentations about Huey Long and the state's interesting political history.

How long of a drive is it from Baton Rouge to New Orleans and what are my other

Question
What are some eating and entertainment suggestions?

Answer
Louie's Cafe near LSU is the best 24 hour eatery in town, with 1950's ambience,
delicious omelettes and hash browns.  Arzi's cafe is a place where you can get a
great vegetarian meal. With a Mediterranean-influenced menu you can also get
lamb, falafel, chicken and beef dishes.  The Varsity Theatre is the place for live
music and an old standby for live blues is Tabby's Blues Box & Heritage Hall.
